With 4-6 live events per year it will be presenting TOPSTARS of the 70s, 80s and 90s and of today, GOLDEN POP is an innovative cross media concept. The concerts are produced with the utmost high-end technology. TOPSTARS and a professional team behind the scene will give GOLDEN POP a glance to be remembered. GOLDEN POP hits the duality of TOPSTARS and branding. In 2008 and 2009, the first six concerts are to be produced at the Maison Folie in Lille. GOLDEN POP guarantees top quality for the stars and the audience. At the same time GOLDEN POP will provide a platform to the stars to write their own GOLDEN POP History. GOLDEN POP will have total media integration and will be promoted on multi platforms. GOLDEN POP will present stars who had world successes and played a big role in the history of pop. Those stars can rely on a huge fan community worldwide. The line-up will consist of those successful stars and current top acts whose live-performance are a highlights as well. The objective of the GOLDEN POP team is to start with a 1 start-off in April 2008 and follow with 5 more concerts within the following 12 months. 2008 is planned to be the start-off in communicating GOLDEN POP to the industry.

A British cultural icon

Steve is a much sought after ‘style commentator’ on a host of TV and radio shows, still models for designers including Vivienne Westwood and is currently touring Europe to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of his biggest selling single, ‘Fade to Grey’ which was recently voted ‘Song of the Decade’ on the prestigious German music show ‘Hit Giganten’.

In 2006, he appeared on the BBC’s ‘Children in Need’ series ‘Celebrity Scissorhands’ where he wowed people with his ‘strange’ hair creations culminating in him breaking a Guinness World Record for shaving 34 heads in one hour! He has also appeared on BBC’s ‘Never Mind the Buzzcocks’ as well as being featured on Channel 4’s documentary ‘Whatever Happened to the Gender Benders’. He has also just completed work on a major BBC series charting fashion in music. Also in 2006, Universal Music released Visage- The Videos on DVD for the first time.

Due to public demand, Steve dusted off the outrageous costumes that were his trademark and was part of the sell out ‘Here and Now’ tour in 2002 and he continues to perform live PA’s around Europe as well as collaborating with a host of young bands that cite him as a major influence on their work.

Steve was enticed from Wales to the bright lights of London in the 1970’s after being invited down by Billy Idol. His first job was designing artwork for Malcolm MacClaren and The Sex Pistols. In 1978, he set up a club night called ‘Billy’s, which provided a setting for a mixture of art students and fashion designers to become the precursors for the New Romantic movement. ‘Club for Heroes’ was then opened in 1981, and Steve invested in and opened The Camden Palace in the same year- London’s first ‘full time’club.

The New Romantic movement spawned bands such as Duran Duran, Spandau Ballet and Culture Club and around the same time, Steve’s band ‘Visage’ was formed, the original line up including Midge Ure. The band enjoyed a plethora of hits around Europe, the most famous being ‘Fade to Grey’ which went to Number One in thirteen countries.

Steve continued performing in ‘Visage’ in the 80’s and running successful club nights in London as well as modelling for top designers including John Paul Gaultier.

Tales of his extraordinary life was published in his best selling autobiography, ‘Blitzed’ and he has even been immortalised in the Boy George musical ‘Taboo’ that ran in London’s West End.
